by Needhi Bharmani, Founder Nerah Skin
For the longest time, I believed good skin came from doing more. More steps. More products. More active ingredients. But over time and through a lot of trial and error. I realized something important: my skin always felt better when I did less.
I say this not as a brand founder, but as someone with a long history of adult acne and rosacea. My skin has been through flare-ups, reactions, and long phases where nothing seemed to work. And during those times, the instinct was always to add, a new serum, a stronger exfoliator, another layer to “fix” things. But the more I added, the worse it got.
What Changed for Me?
It wasn’t until I stripped things back to the basics that my skin finally began to calm down. I realized I didn’t need a shelf full of products . I just needed a few that supported my skin gently, without overwhelming it.
Over time, I saw that when I gave my skin space to breathe, it started to respond with more clarity and less chaos.
What Happens When You Use Fewer Products?
-
Your skin starts to feel more balanced
-
There’s less chance of triggering irritation or breakouts
-
You begin to understand what actually works for you
-
And most importantly, it takes the pressure off. Skincare doesn’t feel like a full-time job
What Does “Less” Look Like for Me?
Most days, my routine is as minimal as:
-
A gentle cleanser
-
A single serum to hydrate or soothe
-
Moisture only when my skin asks for it
-
Sunscreen in the morning
That’s it. No harsh actives. No layering just for the sake of it.
If you’re feeling lost in your routine or if your skin’s reacting more than it’s responding this is your reminder: you don’t always need to do more. Sometimes, less is exactly what your skin has been asking for.
Your skin isn’t something to fix. It’s something to understand patiently, kindly, and without all the noise.
